Willow Tree Figure – For Always

Willow Tree – For Always is a figure created by artist Susan Lordi that portrays a woman holding a young child on her lap, nestled closely to her. The woman’s arms are wrapped around the child, and her head is gently resting on top of the child’s head.

Susan Lordi’s  figures are simple and elegant with no facial features. This to allow for a universal emotional connection between the viewer and the piece. Emotion is displayed through expressive gestures and body languages. The figures can evoke a range of emotions that are relatable to people from different cultures and backgrounds

The woman’s warm embrace in “For Always” conveys a sense of love and protection, while the child’s position suggests trust and security. On imagines the woman’s eyes to be closed, suggesting that she is peaceful and content. She also evokes a feeling that she is at peace and very intent. She is possibly also cherishing a very precious moment of deep love for the child. The woman could be a mother or grandmother.

The figure is made of resin and stands about 17,5cm high. It  comes in a simple, elegant gift box with a card that reads: “Now and for always I carry you in my heart” signifying the eternal bond between the woman and the child, one that will remain even when they are apart.
